WIRRAL has declared 2010 to be its “Year of Food”.
The council, restaurateurs and food producers have teamed up for a series of events over the next 12 months celebrating the borough’s food industry.
Last year, Fraiche, in Oxton, became the first restaurant in Wirral to be awarded a Michelin star.
Events include a competition to create the best vegetarian dish, a fish month, and a gourmet Christmas Fair in Port Sunlight.
Cllr Bob Moon, cabinet member for tourism and leisure, said: “We are really proud of our quality food producers and restaurants.”
