Liverpool Cathedral plays host to 180-piece exhibition of Russian icons

A MAJOR exhibition of Russian icons has opened at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.

Icons in Transformation is a 180- piece installation which includes 12 large sculptures suspended from the ceilings.

Designed with cathedrals in mind, the work is by Russian-born Ludmila Pawlowska and is inspired by the colour and art in her home country.

Canon Anthony Hawley, who brought the exhibition to the cathedral, said: “Icons in Transformation is an awe-inspiring work, and the cathedral will be one of the most impressive settings for it yet.”

The exhibition runs until March 18.
