Fab Four-themed Mankey Monkeys go on display at Liverpool's Beatles hotel

A FAB Four with a difference took up temporary residence at Liverpool’s flagship Beatles-inspired hotel.

It is the latest manifestation of Mankey Monkey fever, which is sweeping the city.

The charity art project aims to raise funds for the Alder Hey Imagine appeal by placing more than 100 monkey puppets at locations around Merseyside, which will then be auctioned off.

The Beatles-themed cuddly primates were designed to reproduce the cover of the Sgt Pepper album.

Appropriately enough, they have been placed in the window of the Hard Days Night hotel’s Blakes restaurant – named after Peter Blake, the artist who designed the famous cover art.

The artistic team behind the public arts project, David and Eirin Hallangen-Lake, said the Mankey Monkey family would not have been complete without a Beatles-themed design.

Mike Dewey, general manager of the Hard Day’s Night hotel, said: “The monkeys will be a real talking point as thousands of people walk past here every day.”
