Royal Castle quitters hit by weather

FEWER Merseyside smokers have visited quitting services so far this year because of the bad weather.

Advisers at stop smoking charity Roy Castle Fag Ends said there had been around 700 signed up to quit so far this year – compared with 1,000 at this time last year.

Organisers think people have avoided coming to clinics because of the bad weather.

Miriam Bell, of Fag Ends, said: “Some of our venues were closed and though most of our staff braved the weather and managed to get to work, some sessions were cancelled.
