Easyjet laser boy pleads guilty to endangering Liverpool John Lennon flight

A TEENAGER admitted pointing a laser beam into the cockpit of a plane carrying 180 people.

The 16-year-old boy shone a laser pen, bought on Ebay for £8, at the Easyjet Belfast flight landing at John Lennon Airport in November last year.

He then did the same thing to the police helicopter sent to find him.

Appearing at Liverpool Youth Court yesterday, the boy admitted two charges of recklessly endangering an aircraft.

Steve Langton, defending, said: “He made a full and frank admission in interview. He had no idea the danger it might cause.”

Magistrate David White-Jones told the boy: “This was a completely reckless act that could have had tragic consequences for a large number of people.”

He fined him £250 plus a £15 victim surcharge.
