World War II propeller raised from seabed

A PROPELLER belonging to a World War II aircraft was raised from the seabed after it became snagged on a lifeboat.

The triple-bladed propeller was discovered after it became entangled in the mooring chains of the all-weather lifeboat based at Calshot, Hampshire. The RNLI hired contractors to investigate the problem and they retrieved the propeller which belonged to a Sunderland flying boat which sank off Calshot.

The RNLI say they hope the relic can find a home in a museum in the area.
