Health Secretary Andy Burnham gets on his bike to back Year of Health and Wellbeing
HEALTH Secretary Andy Burnham put his weight behind Liverpool’s Year of Health and Wellbeing.
The Secretary of State met with staff at Liverpool Primary Care Trust during a visit to Wavertree yesterday.
Local cyclists watched Mr Burnham present a specially-created yellow jersey to staff from Lifestyles Wavertree, which won a cycling challenge between Liverpool’s sports centres last month.
He said: “Liverpool’s Year of Health and Wellbeing is a great opportunity for people to consider the actions we can all take to start leading happier and healthier lives.
“Maintaining good physical and mental health should be a top priority for everyone.”
During his Merseyside visit, Mr Burnham also officially opened the £8m Halewood Centre, which houses a range of Knowsley Council and NHS services.
