Teenager gunned down in north Liverpool

A TEENAGER was left fighting for his life after he was wounded in a drive-by shooting.

The 19-year-old was shot at least once by a gunman who, according to witnesses, fired several bullets indiscriminately across Stanley Road in Kirkdale last night.

The gunman fired from a 4x4-type vehicle which was later found burnt out in a nearby estate.

Just after 8.30pm last night, police swooped on the junction of Stanley Road with Pansy Street in the city’s flower streets, outside the Prince of Wales pub, and closed off the area.

The victim was taken to hospital with wounds to his chest and arm, where his condition was described as “serious”.

As well as a large cordon at the scene of the shooting, there were police and forensic officers on nearby Easby Walk examining a burnt-out off- road vehicle under a bright light.

Police said they were stepping up high visibility patrols in the area and asked for anyone with information to call the Gun Crime Hotline on 0800 458 1211 or Crime Stoppers on 0800 111 555.

A MAN who was shot in the leg in south Liverpool discharged himself from hospital just hours later.
