Homeless exhibition puts Liverpool in focus

A PHOTOGRAPHY exhibition with a difference has showcased amateur talent in Sefton Park.

The project, titled Cold Snap, displayed pictures of Liverpool as seen through the eyes of local homeless people.

In December, residents at a number of Liverpool hostels and visitors to one drop-in centre were handed disposable cameras and encouraged to go out and take photos.

A selection of the best were then put on show at Sefton Park Palm House.

The innovative idea came from Joy McDonnell, who is project manager for temporary accommodation at Liverpool city council’s Housing Options Service, after attending a meal service at a drop-in centre.

Mrs McDonnell said: “I thought it would be interesting to see where some of the visitors went, and to view Liverpool from their perspective.”

The photos, taken by a range of people aged from 6-80, captured images from the Docks to snowy Sefton Park landscapes.
