A LIVERPOOL construction company has been awarded a £4.3m contract to build a pioneering eco-friendly school in Wallasey, after being interviewed by its pupils.
Morgan Ashurst, which has local offices in Highfield Street, will build the new Park Primary School for Wirral Council on the site of the old Park Primary School in Woodstock Road.
Hilary Ryan, headteacher of Park Primary School, said: “The children are so excited about learning in the new school.
“Members of the School Council interviewed the construction companies to check they would work hard and respect the environment.
“One of the reasons Morgan Ashurst was chosen was because of its determination to involve the children, parents and local community in every stage of the construction.”
The new two-storey school, designed by Wirral Council’s in-house design team, will feature classrooms with views over the nearby Oxton Park.
