The High Sheriff of Merseyside has been made a non-executive director of Hill Dickinson

HILL Dickinson announced it has appointed former Grant Thornton chief executive David McDonnell as a non-executive director.

The Liverpool-based firm said Mr McDonnell, who trained as a chartered accountant, will play a “vital role” in shaping its future.

Mr McDonnell is currently High Sheriff of Merseyside and the President of the Council of the University of Liverpool.

He spent virtually his entire career with Grant Thornton and in 1989 was appointed its UK managing partner. In 2001, he was made global CEO.

Hill Dickinson senior partner Tony Wilson said: “David brings a wealth of experience to Hill Dickinson. He will sit on the LLP Board in an advisory role, challenging and contributing to the firm’s strategy development.

“David will also assess management performance and risk factors for the firm from a totally independent position. He will play a vital role in shaping Hill Dickinson’s future.”
