Man accused of St Helens store death

A 33-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with killing a supermarket worker who died after confronting a suspected shoplifter on Merseyside.

Maureen Marsh, 56, was injured when she tried to stop a man fleeing from the Morrisons store in Baxter Lane, St Helens, on April 18, 2009.

She later collapsed at home and died in hospital the following day.

Steven Brighouse, of Gloucester Road, Parr, St Helens, is due to appear before magistrates in the town today charged with manslaughter.

Mrs Marsh had worked at the store for six years.
