SHOP staff at 16 Ethel Austin stores throughout the region face redundancy as part of the administrators’ plan to axe 129 loss-making stores.
The shops affected by the first wave of closures are situated in: Anfield, Bromborough, Cheshire Oaks, Formby, Garston, Liscard, Neston, Netherton, Ormskirk, Prenton, Southport, Tuebrook, Upton, Walton, Waterloo and Widnes.
The administrators said: “The stores are now in the process of closing down, with final dates for their closure to be announced shortly.”
However, with the Knowsley-based warehouse now shut down, no more stock will be despatched to any of the group’s stores, so even the remaining shops not included in the 129-strong list will also face closure once their existing stock has been sold.
