COMEDY legend Ken Dodd was the guest of honour at the opening of a sheltered housing complex.
The Squire of Knotty Ash greeted the new residents of Marston Gardens, in Huyton.
The brand-new £2.8m “extra care” housing scheme, which opened yesterday, asked Dodd to unveil a commemorative plaque and share a buffet lunch with elderly fans.
The 23 purpose-built apartments have been developed by Cosmopolitan Housing Association, and will work with other groups in the Knowsley area.
