Liverpool Blue Coat teacher suspended over allegations of sexual relations with pupil

A TEACHER at Liverpool’s prestigious Blue Coat grammar school was suspended after being accused of having a sexual relationship with an A-Level student.

Nick Barends, an assistant headteacher at the school, has been asked to stay off work while the Wavertree school and council probe the allegation.

Chair of governors Julia Walsh confirmed he was suspended since “just before Christmas”. Police have investigated the allegation and spoken to all parties. The teenager at the centre of the allegation has not made a complaint to police.
