Screenwriter Jimmy McGovern visits FACT for Priest screening and Q&A session
LIVERPOOL screenwriter Jimmy McGovern attended a screening of his 1994 drama Priest at FACT last night.
The award-winning creator of Cracker and The Lakes was at the Wood Street centre to take part in a question and answer session to raise money for youth project Clapperboard UK.
The initiative, set up by Maureen Sinclair, gives young people the chance to make their own films.
Maureen, who organised last night’s event, said: “There were about 200 people in the audience, so it was a full house and it went extremely well.
“I actually premiered Priest 16 years ago and it was one of my first events, so it has some special memories for me anyway.
“A lot of film-makers don’t like watching their own work, but Jimmy sat through it with his wife, then did the questions and answers.
“The audience response to the film was amazing and it was great to have Jimmy there.”
