LIVERPOOL council taxpayers will see their bills rise by 0.5% in April.
Councillors voted in January to freeze the city council’s share of the tax.
But the police authority is increasing its precept by 4%, and the fire authority is putting up its share of the tax by 3.85%.
The city council last night approved the tax for the coming financial year.
Both the ruling Liberal Democrats and Labour opposition were keen to keep council tax down during the recession.
The average Band A rises by £5.35 to £1,012, of which £43.18 will go to the fire brigade and £97.49 to the police.
Those living in Band D properties will see their bills go up by £8 to £1,519.
Liverpool council was able to freeze its share of council tax by cutting £8.2m.
