CHILDREN at a city school had a day to remember when they got a surprise visit from Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher.
The Anfield ace left starstruck pupils at Wavertree’s Northway Primary School in shock when he popped in yesterday.
The soccer star helped launch a five-week Tactics 4 Families programme at the school.
Liverpool FC’s scheme is aimed specifically at supporting positive family relationships and gets children to explore the similarities between the skills needed to be an effective member of a football team and those needed in a family unit.
And Jamie did his bit by talking about his own family, revealing to the 28 captive nine and 10-year-olds how he liked to go for bike rides and an ice-cream with his children.
He also took questions from pupils – many wanting to hear about the victorious 2005 Champions League final.
Tactics 4 Families officials also highlighted the fact that a team of 11 Jamie Carraghers would not work – as different people with different strengths made a winning team.
Teacher Joanne Lewis said: “The looks on the faces when Jamie walked in was incredible.”
