“James then clambered on to the couch and was unsteady on his feet. Again I asked Thomas for help and he slowly helped James off the couch and they went to watch for the ambulance.
“When the ambulance crew arrived Thomas banged on the window to tell them where we were and posted my keys through the letter box so they could get in.
“He is my superhero. I am so proud of him.
“Everyone has spoilt him rotten and he deserves it. He was my miracle baby. At two weeks we were told he would die after he got pneumonia and septicaemia but he pulled through.”
The St Margaret Mary’s Catholic Infant School pupil’s heroic actions were praised by paramedics and his school which held a special Well Done Thomas event in his honour.
Class teacher Nora Palmer said: “When we heard about what happened we spoke to all the children and told them how Thomas had done exactly the right thing.
“We all think he’s a real hero and a great example to the others.
Mayor of Knowsley Cllr Dave Smithson, was guest of honour at the celebrations.
