Liverpool rape victim in horror scalping 'revenge' attack

Merseyside police

Just days after the girl’s family was informed about the stalled rape inquiry she was attacked in the street in the early hours of the morning.

The victim’s mum told the ECHO: “I feel sick. How could two terrible incidents happen to my daughter in such a short time?

“First a rape. Now she has nearly been killed. I thought we’d get justice. But that’s been taken away from us.”

On the evening of May 15 the 16-year-old girl was sat with a group of boys and girls at the Ralla, in Norris Green – a disused railway embankment, also called The Loopline.

As she walked home it is alleged she was sexually attacked by a group of up to six men – some wearing ski-type masks.

The student rarely speaks about the gang rape and only recently agreed to counselling.

Sick taunts were also posted on social networking sites including one mocking message, read by the family, which said: “Ralla rape is my game!”

Her devastated mum added: “I can’t believe somebody did this. But they did.

“These people are feral. They do what they want knowing nothing will happen to them. They feel they are untouchable.

“Please, if anyone knows anything, come forward. Police have said that nobody is willing to give a statement.”

The teenager must return to Alder Hey’s maxio facial unit for further treatment as she continues on the long road to recovery.

Police investigating the alleged rapes presented a file to the CPS.

But again officers were told there was insufficient evidence to prosecute.

Today detectives stressed both enquiries remained open adding they were very keen for people to come forward to help.

Det Insp Mark Guinness told the ECHO: “The victim was subject to a violent assault which left her with multiple injuries.

“She has provided an account of what happened and the name of a person responsible. Unfortunately, at the scene, we were unable to capture it on CCTV.

“There are moments when she comes up on a camera. But there is a significant period of time when we’re not sure where she was.”

A description of the teenager on the night of the attack was released to the ECHO in the hope of jogging people’s memory.

She was wearing a black jacket, leopard-print leggings, a cream scarf, green Converse shoes with a yellow tongue, one of which is missing, and a black and white heart shaped bag draped over her shoulder.
