LIVEREAD, the Daily Post’s online book festival, is running on our website throughout this week.
It features contributions from big-name authors, including Blundellsands’ Frank Cottrell Boyce, Linda Grant and Ramsey Campbell.
A celebration of Liverpool writers and writing, it also showcases the work of amateur local writers as well as daily quizzes on the city’s literary history, a downloadable literary trail and a five-day serialised story created with the help of Daily Post readers.
The festival will also include daily readings by published authors, including a sneak preview of Wirral writer Caroline Smailes’ Like Bees To Honey, and daily ebooks to download free of charge.
We are asking readers to vote in a citywide poll to discover Liverpool’s favourite novel and Wirral-based consultancy Bubblecow is answering questions on preparing a manuscript for publication.
Highlights of the week include today’s live book group-style discussion of Beryl Bainbridge’s novel Young Adolf, based on the local myth Hitler worked at the Adelphi.
Internationally renowned horror writer Ramsey Campbell will take part in a live interview with readers tomorrow, alongside the live book group tackling of Willy Russell’s novel, The Wrong Boy. Screenwriter and novelist Frank Cottrell Boyce (Millions, 24 Hour Party People) answers Daily Post readers’ questions live online on Friday.
All events take place on the Daily Post’s website at www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liveread
