Liverpool Hope University becomes an “All-Steinway” School

PLAY it again Sam. And again. And again.

Liverpool Hope University took delivery of a dozen Steinway pianos worth almost £250,000.

The instruments are set to go into the university’s new Capstone building as Hope becomes an “all-Steinway school” – only the second in England.

Star attraction is a £110,000 Steinway D concert grand, one of the finest instruments in the world, which was lifted into the building by a specialist crane before taking its place alongside the others in the new state-of-the-art Hope Theatre.

Hope Vice-Chancellor Professor Gerald Pillay said: “We want to be the best and the only way to do that is to work with the best.”

The University already owns four other Steinways, bringing the grand total to 16.
