OFCOM executive and former BBC news chief Richard Ayre has been appointed to the BBC Trust, it was announced last night.
Mr Ayre, who headed the Ofcom inquiry into the premium rate phone line scandal in 2007, takes over from Richard Tait in August and will take the post for four years. Mr Ayre was formerly chief executive of BBC News.
