Widnes transport group Suttons in £6m investment

It has a history of service stretching back more than 80 years and is one of the UK’s most successful privately owned specialist logistics companies.

Last August the company announced an investment of more than £3.2m to add 200, 26,000 litre tanks which were built by Welfit Oddy in South Africa, together with a further 20 high insulation 24,000 litre tanks from China’s Nantong Tank in Jiangsu.

In October 2008 the group took delivery of five new Volvo tractor units which were part of a £5m investment programme.

The transport company had ordered a total of 77 vehicles to update its fleet after winning a £36m contract with British Sugar.

Vehicles were delivered on a phased basis up until last spring.
