THE Archbishop of Liverpool said mass yesterday in memory of Kay Kelly.
The 66-year-old passed away on Monday night at the Royal Liverpool Hospital from a cancer-related lung infection.
The community stalwart campaigned for various causes in Liverpool and raised a million pounds for cancer research facilities at Clatterbridge Hospital in the 1970s.
A statement issued by the Archdiocese of Liverpool said: “It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Kay Kelly.
“She was a lady of great faith and courage which shone through all she did. Her campaigning work over many years was always backed up by prayer and trust in the God who has now taken her home.
“Archbishop Patrick Kelly has this morning offered Mass for her.
“May she now know joy in the Lord and rest in peace.”
