TOURISM stars in Liverpool shone at a glittering awards ceremony last night.
The Liverpool Ambassador Awards 2010 were held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel to recognise excellence in customer care.
Among the winners in the 12 categories was Mark Harris, who works at Sudley House.
He scooped the Outstanding Customer Service Award and could go on to regional, then national finals.
Christine Dixon, breakfast supervisor at the Jurys Inn, won the award last year and has now reached the national tourism finals.
Last night’s winners included George Jones, from LACE, who won the Unseen Hero Award and Adam McLellan, from Red Hot Buffet, in Liverpool One, who won the Bar Person of the Year Award.
The public voted and the awards attracted a record 500 nominations.
Cllr Gary Millar, Executive Member for Enterprise and Tourism, said: “Liverpool is now regarded as one of Europe’s premier city break destinations, welcoming millions of people every year – and we owe a huge deal of thanks to that special army of thousands who work tirelessly to deliver excellence across the tourism sector.”
