Students face American style university entrance exams

STUDENTS could sit American-style university entrance exams as part of an overhaul of A-Levels which would also see “bite-size” exams sidelined, a review has suggested.

The Tory-commissioned review into the future of qualifications called for universities to be given a bigger role in the content of A-levels.

It recommended A-levels should no longer be automatically modular, paving the way for a return to traditional two-year courses, and a reduction in AS-levels, a feature of the Government’s 2000 curriculum reforms.
