Corin Redgrave filmed his final performance in Liverpool

THE final piece of work completed by actor Corin Redgrave who died this week, was filmed in Liverpool, it has been revealed.

The veteran stage and film actor starred in an episode of BBC daytime drama series Moving On, which is filmed in Kirkdale.

Corin, who is part of the famous acting dynasty which includes his sisters Vanessa and Lynn Redgrave and father Michael Redgrave, will be seen appearing in his final piece of work this summer.

The show, made by the Liverpool’s LA Productions, is the brainchild of Bafta and Emmy award-winning writer Jimmy McGovern and producer Colin McKeown.

Paying tribute to the star, Mr McKeown said working with him had been a dream come true. He added: “I met Corin a couple of years ago when he was performing at the Playhouse and he stayed at my apartment. I said I’d love to work with him and 18 months later the opportunity came up. It was fabulous and although he was obviously very sick he just soldiered on. He was a real gent and great throughout the whole thing.

“During the filming of Moving On, I thought that he wasn’t long for this world, so we desperately tried to make sure it was the best episode we’d ever done, as we realised it could be his last piece of work – sadly it was. We just delivered the episode to the BBC last Wednesday. ”

Corin died on Tuesday, aged 70. He had been diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2000. Mr McKeown said the actor had a fond affection for Merseyside which came from his famous family’s connections to Liverpool. He added: “Corin’s mum and dad actually met in Liverpool, so he was always made up whenever he came here.
