Former Liverpool FC and Everton FC players pick teams for Liverpool’s ‘world cup’
FOOTBALL legends Mark Wright and Graeme Sharpe picked the teams that will battle it out in a seven-a-side “mini world cup” in Liverpool.
The World in One City Community Cup will see 32 “national” teams, based on their cultural backgrounds, compete on May 22 and 23, at the City of Liverpool Soccer Centre, in Walton, to boost the city’s bid to host the real event in 2018.
Former Liverpool FC defender, Mark Wright, said: "For Liverpool to have a tournament like this is fantastic."
Former Everton player Graeme Sharp added: "Football has done a great amount of work to tackle racism. I applaud everyone involved in making this tournament happen."
