A 4x4 DRIVER was rescued by passers-by after his vehicle became trapped on a Merseyside beach yesterday afternoon.
He was trying to tow his boat – a Rib (rigid inflatable boat) – to shore but became stuck in rising water, right, off the coast at New Brighton.
Witness Andy Mahon said: “You could see he was starting to panic. The water was coming up past the doors and was lifting the 4x4 up.
“You could see his concern and then he appeared carrying a little boy from the cab wearing a life jacket.”
Two other 4x4s eventually managed to tow the stranded vehicle to safety, but his trailer was abandoned.
