Ormskirk’s Edge Hill University offers poetry scholarship

BUDDING poets are being offered a new university scholarship to help their writing careers flourish.

Edge Hill University, in Ormskirk, is behind the award which recognises and celebrates students who show promise as writers and have the potential to develop further.

The scholarship was founded by Prof Rhiannon Evans, Pro- Vice Chancellor at Edge Hill from 1994 to 2008, who has had a lifelong interest in poetry.

Her late husband, Paul, was a poet and recipient of the prestigious Alice Hunt Bartlett Prize from the Poetry Society.

A shortlist of up to eight hopefuls will be drawn up and a university panel will hand the £500 prize to the winner in October.
