A JURY was due to be sent out today to consider a verdict in the trial of a man who stabbed his landlord 83 times.
Michal Kalinowski, 22, admitted killing Peter Berkley, 43, at his flat in Abbeystead, Skelmersdale, on November 6 last year.
ŠDuring his trial at Preston Crown Court, he denied murder but admitted manslaughter, claiming he was defending himself.
ŠYesterday the judge, Mr Justice Timothy King, in summing up, told how Mr Berkley was stabbed 83 times, which included 11 stab wounds to his head.
Kalinowski sustained two knife wounds, which the prosecution claimed were self-inflicted.
