A CAGE of doves were released in Liverpool city centre to mark the opening of Tate Liverpool’s landmark Picasso exhibition.
Hard Day’s Night Hotel general manager Mike Dewey set the birds free from the balcony of the Paul McCartney Suite.
Opening next week, the Picasso: Peace And Freedom exhibition will feature around 150 of the Spanish painter’s work, focusing on his political beliefs.
Mr Dewey said: “Although both John Lennon and McCartney championed for peace, it was Paul McCartney who performed the song Picasso’s Last Words, so we thought it fitting to release doves from his dedicated suite at the hotel.”
