Anthony Walker Foundation gets £106k from Big Lottery Fund

THE Anthony Walker Foundation has received £106,000 from the Big Lottery fund.

Four good causes were given a total of £1.8m in Merseyside. The foundation was set up in memory of Anthony, who was murdered in 2005. The scheme offers vital support to victims of hate crime, and the project’s volunteers help tackle prejudice and discrimination, and to promote cultural diversity.

The money will help it provide support across the community and also host a programme of events including annual film, dance, drama, and visual arts festivals to raise awareness of the organisation’s services.

Director Tony Lloyd said: “The funding enables us to employ a full-time volunteer co-ordinator to harness the enthusiasm of our volunteers and employ them in a range of activities.”

The other organisations to receive cash were Breckfield and North Everton Neighbourhood Council Limited, Kensington Community Learning Centre and the Jigsaw project.Š
