FESTIVAL goers are being urged to ditch the car and use public transport this summer.Raileasy (www. raileasy.co.uk), the official online ticketing website for the Glastonbury festival, is advising festival goers to book their rail tickets early. Darin Butler, Raileasy's sales and marketing director says: “We urge anyone going to Glastonbury to book early for cheaper tickets.”
STEP back in time with a free Ranger-led guided walk on Saturday, May 22, to discover the tales of Great Victorians of Sefton Park.This walk looks at the greats associated with this beautiful park, below. Discover the story behind such greats as Sam Smith. Smith was a multi- millionaire philanthropist and also founder of the NSPCC.Also visit the house of Oliver Lodge. Lodge was a great inventor and invented the spark plug, the modern day ignition system, and tuning for radio stations. He was a great pioneer of radio and made the first radio transmission.The walk will also visit statues of our great Victorians such as William Rathbone, reformer, philanthropist and founder of our modern-day nursing system and, of course, lots more. To take part in this free two-hour tour, meet on Saturday, May 22, outside the Palm House, at 1pm.
