Picasso: Peace and Freedom top open at Tate Liverpool

PICASSO’S post-war work and political activism come under the microscope when Tate Liverpool’s new exhibition opens tomorrow.

Finishing touches were being added to the Picasso: Peace and Freedom display today. Tate bosses hope the show, the first ever to consider the Spanish artist’s political views and peace activism, will attract tens of thousands of visitors to the Albert Dock gallery.

Yesterday, members of the press were given a sneak preview of the works, and you can read a full review of the exhibition in tomorrow’s Daily Post.

Dr Christoph Grunenberg, director of Tate Liverpool and co-curator of the exhibition, said: “I’m extremely pleased with it, it’s better than I ever hoped in some ways, in getting the loans and the range of works.”

PICASSO: Peace and Freedom runs from tomorrow until August 30.
