ONE of Pope Benedict’s closest advisors was in Liverpool at the weekend.
Cardinal Walter Kasper celebrated Solemn Mass at the Metropolitan Cathedral yesterday.
He then blessed the two glass columns positioned at the bottom of the cathedral’s steps.
Thye are the work of his friend, German artist Raphael Seitz, who was also present at the ceremony.
Cardinal Kasper later preached at the Two Cathedrals Service which began in the Anglican Cathedral and, following a procession in bright sunshine along Hope Street, concluded in the Metropolitan Cathedral.
Cardinal Kasper was today celebrating mass at Our Lady of the Annunciation efore going to Liverpool Hope University where he delivered a lecture on Jewish- Christian relations.
