Clapperboard awards toast young drama talent in Liverpool

MERSEYSIDE’S young theatrical talent was the toast of a glittering awards ceremony last night.

Clapperboard, which supports budding actors, writers and directors in the North West, held its annual awards at the Playhouse Theatre on Williamson Square.

A group from Knowsley Youth Arts Group picked up the prize for best overall film for their production Mischief!.

This year’s judging panel included acclaimed writers, Paul Abbott, who created Channel Four comedy Shameless, and Frank Cottrell Boyce. Christine Tremarco from Waterloo Road and Early Doors’ John Henshaw were also on the panel, along with two members of the Clapperboard Active Citizens panel Corrin Allen and Bradley Thompson.

Organiser Maureen Sinclair said: “It was a fantastic celebration. So many well know people have given up their time to be here this evening to support the young people’s creative achievements.”
