Newton-le-Willow’s singer Olivia Archbold comes within whisker of Britain’s Got Talent final

MERSEYSIDE singing sensation Olivia Archbold was left thinking “What if?” after narrowly missing out on a place in the final of Britain’s Got Talent.

The 14-year-old, from Newton-le-Willows, came within a whisker of Saturday’s showpiece after finishing in the top three in last night’s semi-final. But judges Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan instead plumped for dancer Tobias Mead, and in doing so dashed her dream of appearing at the Royal Variety Performance.

The talented teen, whose voice has been compared to Welsh songstress Charlotte Church, made the bold decision to sing Kate Winslet’s little-known song “What If?”

Judges Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan said they preferred her audition version of Sarah McLaughlan’s Angel, but Amanda Holden was more impressed with last night’s rendition.

A choked Olivia said she had an “amazing experience”.
