St George's Flag @ The University of Liverpool's Department of Engineering
ENGINEERING experts at Liverpool University have found an illuminating way to show their support for England.
Each night, the Active Learning Laboratory, on Brownlow Hill, is proudly displaying the St George’s Cross.
The LED lights can be seen from the Wirral, and each night the glass panels on the structure are usually glow in an array of different colours, but, during the last week, they have been in salute to the Three Lions.
It is hoped the building, which opened in 2008, will become the place where the brightest engineering minds of the future cut their spurs. Professor Peter Goodhew, of the university’s engineering department, said: "We devised the lighting scheme to enhance the University’s presence in the city and it is now a colourful part of the Liverpool skyline. "To mark the World Cup celebrations, we’ve lit the building in the shape of the England flag to reflect the fun and excitement of this international event."
