Crown Princess cruise liner to host Princess Cruises convention

PRINCESS Cruises is holding its first cruise convention in Liverpool for travel agents onboard one of its megaliners.

More than 100 agents from northern England will visit the 113,000 gross ton Crown Princess when she visits Liverpool Cruise Terminal on Sunday, June 27.

Princess Cruises decided to hold the event on Crown Princess, on her fifth visit to Liverpool, on her latest round- Britain summer cruise programme.

Liverpool will be the first regional event of its kind planned jointly with the Association of Cruise Experts.

John Cooper, Liverpool Cruise Club sales and marketing manager, said: “This is just what Liverpool and cruise lines should do together to exploit the city’s cruise industry potential.

“Crown Princess is a spectacular ship and it’s a terrific idea to give northern agents an unparalleled chance to experience her facilities first-hand.”

On average, each of Crown Princess’s 3,110 passengers will put £80 into the local economy during the liner’s fifth visit.

Such has been the success of these round-Britain cruises, starting from Southampton, that the liner is booked to call at Liverpool again over the next two summers. Crown Princess was the largest liner to call at Liverpool until Queen Mary 2’s visit last October.

Peter van der Schee, Princess Cruises head of brand marketing, said: “We’re delighted Merseyside agents can experience one of our spectacular ships in such a convenient location and our passengers can enjoy the wonders of Merseyside.”
