A SIGNED photo of Everton legend Dixie Dean is expected to fetch more than £1,000 at auction.
The official team photo of the 1933 FA Cup winning side with the legendary William “Dixie” Dean sitting in the centre of the front row bears the autographs of the famous striker.
The photograph has been in one Evertonian’s family since it was signed more than 70 years ago.
The black and white 11x 13-inch picture – probably taken for publicity in the build-up to the match – is being sold by Colwyn Bay auctioneers Rogers Jones Co tomorrow and is estimated to fetch between £1,000 and £1,500.
Dixie captained the team, set up the first goal and scored the second in his side’s 3-0 victory over Manchester City in the final, adding to his tally of 349 goals in 399 games for the club.
It is being sold by retired painter and decorator and lifelong supporter Gerard Davies, 70, who was born and brought up in Liverpool but now lives in Llandudno.
Mr Davies, still a season ticket holder, follows the club every week, but has no idea how the photo came into his family’s possession.
