Three members of the same family are being ordained at Chester Cathedral

THREE members of the same family are to be ordained as deacons at Chester Cathedral this weekend.

Former producer of TV soap Brookside Sue Mayo will be joined by her daughter, Jenny Mayo-Lythall, and her son-in-law, Andrew Lythall – as they all begin their Christian ministry in the diocese.

The ceremony will be extra-memorable for Andrew, 24, and Jenny, 26, because the date coincides with the first anniversary of their marriage.

The couple actually met while being trained for ordination at Cranmer Hall, St John’s College, in Durham.

Sue Mayo, 56, from Liverpool had worked as a theatre director and TV director and producer before becoming a Christian around 17 years ago.

Her daughter introduced her to the faith after having attended a Church of England holiday club in Cheadle, Stockport.

For the past eight years Sue has worked as a schools evangelist.
