Halton schools schemes killed off by Tory-Lib Dem cuts

SCHEMES in Halton and Warrington have also been scrapped.

And in Cheshire West and Chester a planned academy to replace Verdin and Woodford Lodge high schools in Winsford is now “up for discussion”.

Also up in the air is a planned £25m new building for Ellesmere Port’s University of Chester Church of England Academy.

Halton schemes under discussion are Runcorn’s Halton High School Academy; The Grange High School Runcorn; and Wade Deacon high school,Widnes.

Scrapped Halton schemes confirmed are:Ashley School, Widnes; Cavendish school, Runcorn; Chestnut Lodge, Widnes; St Peter and St Paul, Widnes; St Chad’s, Runcorn; The Bankfield, Widnes; The Bridge pupil referral unit (PRU), Runcorn; The Gateway PRU, Runcorn; The Heath, Runcorn.

In Warrington, Fox Wood, Green Lane, Lysander,Penketh, Sir Thomas Boteler and William Beaumont were axed by Education Minister Michael Gove.
