THE firm responsible for Liverpool’s bin chaos said it has cleared the backlog of unemptied rubbish.
Enterprise-Liverpool was under pressure to improve its service since it emerged more than a week ago that 18,000 bins were not collected.
Last night, the company said it was confident residents were receiving a reliable and consistent collection again.
At the weekend, it emerged council officials were studying the terms of the contract with Enterprise to see if the company could be fined.
An Enterprise-Liverpool spokesman said: “We had additional crews working to clear the backlog and that has now been completed.
“All collections are back to normal and we are confident residents are now receiving a reliable and consistent collection again.
“We would like to thank people for their patience.”
Cllr Berni Turner, opposition spokesman for the environment, urged the council to fine Enterprise.
She said: “I doubt all the problems have gone away.
“A lot of disabled people did not get their collections and that is unacceptable.
“Sweeping is not occurring properly and alleygates are being left open.”
