Matthew Arnold Primary School pilot scheme helped Jacob Measley toilet-train

ANGELA Measley says the Listening Project has “worked wonders” with her five-year-old son, Jacob.

The youngster was three when he was diagnosed as having Fragile X Syndrome and he developed severe learning difficulties.

He had only been at Matthew Arnold School for a matter of months when Ms Measley heard about a groundbreaking new project which she hoped would help Jacob with his toilet training.

She said: “It was not easy at first.

“Jacob does not usually like anything touching his ears, so he did not like putting the headphones on, but once he got used to wearing them, he really started to calm down.

“He was usually more interested in whatever he was doing at the time than in going to the toilet, but slowly and surely he started going and getting his potty whenever he wanted to go, and I was able to wean him off nappies.

“After eight weeks, there were big improvements, which have continued.

“I can relax a bit more now around the house.

“The Listening Project really has worked wonders.”
