Liverpool actress Kim Cattrall says it is a “dream come true” to become an honorary fellow of Liverpool John Moores University

ACCLAIMED actress Kim Cattrall said it was a “dream come true” to become an honorary fellow of a city university.

The Golden Globe-winning actress donned a blue cap and gown to receive the accolade from Liverpool John Moores University before she addressed students graduating yesterday.

The 53-year-old Sex And The City star, who plays proudly promiscuous PR guru Samantha Jones in the hit New York-based TV show and films, said she was “thrilled” to receive the honour surrounded by her friends and family.

Before the presentation, Kim was joined by relatives, including her mother, Shane Cattrall, and her Liverpool aunts, as she posed for photographs on the steps of the city’s Anglican cathedral.

The actress, who was born in Liverpool before her parents moved to Canada when she was three months old, was welcomed with huge cheers from the students as she collected her Fellowship for her contribution to performing arts.

Wearing a cap that university vice chancellor Professor Michael Brown had placed on her head, she made a speech to hundreds of graduates and their families.

She said: “Whoever said you cannot go home again didn’t come from Liverpool.

“I feel very connected to this city. From the very beginning, coming from Liverpool meant that I was special.

“This is a very extraordinary experience for me and my family and I think it’s the first time I’ve been called a Fellow.

“I promise to behave myself because I’m in a church.”
