A MAN was killed and his eight-year-old son injured in a car crash yesterday.
The tragedy happened in Telegraph Road, Heswall, early yesterday morning.
The man, 48-year-old, was driving his silver Mondeo in the direction of Thurstaston, in Wirral.
Paramedics and police were called to the scene of the incident, which was close to the Tesco store, at around 8.45am.
The car had left the road and hit a lamp- post.
The driver was pronounced dead in hospital shortly afterwards, but the young boy escaped with only slight injuries.
Police closed the stretch of the busy main road through Heswall until just after midday while they dealt with the accident.
One eyewitness said: “The silver-coloured car was wedged between two trees.
“It was completely off the road surface.”
