Cherie Booth receives honorary degree from Liverpool Hope University

FORMER Prime Minister’s wife Cherie Booth said she was “thrilled” to receive her honorary degree in Liverpool.

Cherie Booth, QC, was due to collect her Doctorate of Laws from Liverpool Hope University last year.

However, she was forced to pull out after coming down with a suspected case of swine flu.

Ms Booth, who was brought up in Waterloo, was awarded an honorary doctorate yesterday in recognition of her career as a leading barrister.

She told the Liverpool Daily Post: "I am thrilled to receive this recognition from Liverpool Hope University which has such deep roots in this community and a proud record of widening access to higher education."

Ms Booth is the wife of former PM Tony Blair.
