LEADING scientist Sir Tim Hunt has become an honorary fellow of Liverpool’s John Moores University.
The Neston-born Nobel Prize winner, who has worked at Cancer Research UK since 1990, was recognised “for his outstanding contributions to the field of biochemistry”.
He told graduates in a packed ceremony at the city’s Anglican Cathedral: “We should all aspire to do the best we can.
“Graduates can be the agents of change.
“We have miles to go – finding cures for cancer and other important work.”
LJMU also presented an award to Aintree Racecourse, in recognition of “the influence of the organisation in portraying a positive image of Merseyside”.
